All Newsletters : June 1999 : Do you remember this face?

Do you remember this face?

She escorted a party of ten migrant children sailing from Southampton to Australia in 1954 aboard the Strathaird.

Nearly 45 years later, she's managed to track down four of the boys who, needless to say, are now well and truly middle-aged men.

Margaret Dennis, as she was then, is now Mrs Margaret Ryan, but she was only ever referred to as "Miss". Margaret will be in Perth later this year and would like to catch up with some of her other "young charges".

Who were the children who travelled with Margaret and nurse Anne on that 1954 journey ..? What does Margaret remember about this trip..? What does she look like today? To find out, read Margaret's story 'A Pinch of Salt'.
