died in Sydney in September 2001. His cremation ceremony was held on 14 September. Michael was possessed of a proud and indomitable spirit. He was a champion of truth and justice for his peers at Clontarf, and in adult life, became a fighter for the rights of working people through his trade union. Michael was a great character and truly “one of a kind”. His passing is a sad event for his friends, the staff at C-BERS who got to know him well over the years, and for the many good causes for which he had fought.
