My father never revealed much about this period of his life but did bring some strange ideas & behaviours into my childhood that still haunt me. I believe there is a 2nd generation of "victims" that have suffered the "learnt" behaviour of their parents. We struggle not to pass these on to our children & by the time we find out where it all came from it is too late. It was after the airing of "Lost Children of the Empire" that the penny dropped for me. Why the obssession about locks & keys, being ready to go out as a family to have it cancelled at the front door, "6 of the best" before & after church & so the list goes on. Lost childhood, domestic violence & so it goes on. I made contact with the Christian Brothers when the movie was aired and pointed out that there was a further generation that would need counselling - it seems it may have fallen on deaf ears. That is unless it has been made available & I am unaware.
